"The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."

About Us
My name is Rick Tracewell, owner of Tracewell Entertainment. Here's a brief bio on myself and Tracewell Entertainment.

This is my youngest daughter Gianna. She likes to hear her daddy sing. She was around six months old in this photo. She sings, too.

First and foremost, I'm a husband and father to a great group of people. My wife Kristi, my daughters Morgan, Kelsey & Gianna (pictured at the right at six months old), and my sons Nico and Kolby. My oldest kids are always frustrated that I have the latest music before they even hear it on the radio (not many kids can say that about their dad!).

My "other job" is owner of Tracewell Media, a marketing and design firm that I started back in 1990. The company has changed form and services offered many times over the years, but for the most part it's about identity and marketing companies (and products/services) large and small. I wouldn't be a good marketing guy if I didn't at least tell you to call me if you need marketing and design assistance.

I also dabble in music (lead vocals, guitar, piano) and writing (music, stories, articles, screenplays). I'm currently in two local bands that play mostly classic and current rock dance tunes.

I owned and operated a successful mobile disc-jockey business (BONK! Productions - see photo below) in the south bay area (San Jose, Santa Cruz, Monterey, etc.) in the late 80's to the mid 90's, but closed it when the Internet took off (too many web sites to design back then!). But I always kept up with the music collection I had amassed over the years and eventually digitized and organized it on the computer. I still did weddings and parties for friends and former customer referrals over the years. Yes, I still have crates and crates of classic vinyl and can't seem to get rid of it (my wife doesn't get it...not sure if I do, either to be honest).

DJ, Disc Jockey, Wedding Entertainer
That's me on the left (circa 1990) along with Paul Sanchez, a lifelong friend and former DJ at a business fair in Santa Cruz. Notice the giant system behind me with those strange pieces of equipment that spin around with a needle that rides along grooves in those flat discs made of vinyl plastic.

After DJing a few weddings for friends of friends in 2005, I decided to re-invest in some brand new equipment and to start offering my services again to a select clientele. Over the past two years, the company has grown and expanded a bit into Live Music while keeping our focus on the wedding industry.

I don't accept every request that comes through my web site or through word of mouth, and I'm certainly not the cheapest DJ you'll find (not the most expensive, either - by far).

However, I do promise you that you won't find anyone who will work harder to make sure that your wedding or event turns out even better than you imagined (just read my references). I spend many, many hours preparing music, talking with my customers, consulting with the event coordinators and other vendors, and I arrive very early to make sure that everything is up and running smoothly before guests arrive.

I believe that after speaking with me, you'll get a sense of my professionalism and knowledge of the industry. I hope to speak with you soon and to be a part of making your event a big success for you and your guests.

Feel free to call me at (530) 852-5009 seven days a week to discuss your DJ/MC needs.

Sincerely,

Rick Tracewell
